As part of SDG&E’s ongoing commitment to provide customers with the safest and most reliable energy possible, SDG&E will be using helicopters equipped with Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology to inspect the overhead electric power lines and equipment throughout the region’s High Fire Threat District. These inspections are done to ensure the safety of the electric power lines and identify if any repairs or vegetation maintenance is needed.
Corporate Helicopters is conducting low level aerial flyovers with Sharper Shape on behalf of San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) to inspect distribution poles in high fire risk areas as part of a broader Wildfire Mitigation Plan. The focus of these operations is to inspect SDG&E electrical assets, structures and right of ways that support these assets. Once all electrical poles, towers and infrastructures in a specified area are captured, the helicopters will depart to the next designated area.
