Do I need a reservation for a helicopter charter?
Yes, it is important to make a reservation as much in advance as possible to ensure helicopter and pilot availability.
What is an aerial survey?
An aerial survey is a custom helicopter flight that allows for flights over real estate or projects for first hand research. It is often the best way to view large projects, remote and rural property. An aerial survey can also be conducted with technical mapping equipment such as LiDAR.
How much luggage can be brought on a helicopter charter?
Each helicopter has different FAA weight restrictions and baggage compartment sizes. More passengers per flight will reduce the amount of luggage that will fit. Most of the time, carry-on items and a few items of airline carry-on size luggage or small duffel bags size can be accommodated. As your operator how much luggage your helicopter can carry and be prepared to give weights of bags and weights of the passengers.
What happens if a helicopter charter is cancelled due to bad weather?
Safety is always the number one priority. If your helicopter charter is cancelled due to bad weather or high wind conditions, charters can be rescheduled or refunded.
Can helicopter charters fly to custom destinations?
In most cases, yes. Permission must be obtained first if planning to landing other than an airport or heliport.
What fuel range do helicopters have?
Helicopters fly an average of two and a half hours before landing to refuel. Helicopters must maintain a significant fuel reserve for safety. This will vary with the weight of passengers and baggage. More passengers and baggage could reduce the amount of fuel the helicopter can carry and thereby reduce the range of that flight.
How many people can a typical helicopter hold?
Helicopters come in many sizes and configurations. Robinson R44 Helicopters hold three passengers and do not have a baggage compartment. Bell JetRangers carry 4 passengers and have a baggage compartment. Bell LongRangers can hold up to 6 passengers and has baggage compartments. AStar helicopters carry 5 passengers plus larger baggage compartments. The Airbus H130 can carry 6 passengers.
Can dogs fly on a helicopter?
Yes. On a private charter you may bring your well behaved dog as a passenger.
