San Diego and Mexico have so much to see and do, and helicopters are the ideal (or only feasible) way to get to many them.
This post covers some amazing, but lesser known destinations and attractions in San Diego and Mexico that we visited this Spring, when we provided custom helicopter tours for members of the Young Presidents’ Organization.
On our first weekend, we flew a total of 3 AS350 B2 Astars and 1 Bell 206L3 Long Ranger from the Fairmont Grand Del Mar (departing from the Torrey Pines Glider Port) to Lions Tigers and Bears.
Lions Tigers and Bears
Lions Tigers and Bears is an organization in Alpine that provides rescue and educational services for big cats and bears.
This 93-acre sanctuary is home to over 60 animals all of whom were victims of abuse and/or the exotic animal trade.
Visits are by appointment only.
Valle de Guadalupe Cielo
On the second weekend, we toured the Ensenada, Mexico area.
Our first stop was El Cielo Winery.
El Cielo Winery not only features wine from El Cielo, but the amazing Latitud 32 Steakhouse.
Deckman’s
We then visited Deckman’s, a farm to table restaurant with wine, vegetables, herbs, lamb, olive oil, and eggs grown or produced on the Mogor Ranch.
Horsepower Ranch
Our final stop was Horsepower Ranch, a ranch resort and hotel located in the San Juanito mountains.
If you’re in the mood to see or do something different – feel free to contact us about a custom helicopter tour of San Diego and/or Mexico. There’s a lot to do and many places that even the most local of San Diegans still have not seen.
